Wrongful Death

Wrongful Death Funeral

Wrongful death generally means a lawsuit that filed when wrongful conduct results in the death of another person. Like personal injury, this area of tort law can involve every area of tort practice – from boat wrecks or traumatic brain injuries to dangerous products on the market – but your first step should be to consult with an experienced wrongful death attorney. One of our Panama City wrongful death lawyers will help determine, first, who is the personal representative allowed to sue on behalf of the estate of a deceased person against the person or company responsible for the victim’s death. Next, our firm will evaluate the nature and wrongfulness of the conduct. After looking at the various expectations and damages that one may have suffered, depending upon their relationship to the victim, we will then begin to explore every avenue possible to obtain justice for the survivors.

If someone you love has died because of the wrongful conduct of another, contact the Bruner Law Firm today at (850) 243-2222. We have offices in Panama City and Fort Walton Beach and serve all of Northwest Florida. We are available to meet with you in any of the surrounding communities as well.

Dog Bites

Dog Bite Injury

If you have been bitten by a dog and suffered injuries, you are not alone; each year, according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), more than 368,000 people went to the emergency room for dog bite-related injuries. A dog bite can cause very serious injuries. Scaring,

Laws controlling liability in dog bite cases vary amongst the states and they often depend on the circumstances surrounding the attack. In most states, strict liability laws apply. This means that the animal’s owner is held completely liable for all damages. Knowledge of a dog’s propensity for violence is of no importance.

In other states, an owner may be liable to a lesser degree if the animal had shown no previous propensity to attack or if the dog was playful. The law can also be complex regarding the victim’s role in the attack (i.e. if the victim was on the property illegally, or there was a “Beware of Dog Sign”). Given the unique and “case-by-case” nature of dog bite law, it is crucial to hire an attorney as soon as possible.

Car Defects: Toyota Recalls

Toyota Defect Lawsuit

After a problem with unintended acceleration, Toyota has recalled more than 150,000 Lexus RX crossover vehicles. Both the Lexus RX 350 and 450h were recalled because of problems with floor mats entrapping the accelerator pedal.

According to the International Business Times, the National Highway Traffic Safety (NHTSA) administration may consider launching an investigation on Toyota “regarding delays in notifying the agency about the problem.” The government agency released a statement saying, “NHTSA is requesting additional documentation from the manufacturer and is considering opening an investigation into whether Toyota met its obligation to notify the agency and conduct a recall in a timely manner.”

The consequences of this malfunction can result in serious injuries sustained in car accidents, or even fatalities. Toyota will begin notifying the owners of these recalled vehicles in August.

Dangerous Medical Devices

Full Hip Replacement Problems

Advances in medical technology have saved a countless number of lives throughout the years. Artificial organs, prosthetic limbs, and prosthetic joint replacements have all undoubtably improved the lives of millions and served as a great achievement for humanity. However, many times these devices do not function as intended. Due to the negligence of the manufacturer or distributor of the product, a defect may exists such that it makes the product unreasonably safe. In Florida, product makers and distributors are held to a higher standard than the norm for the various medical devices they place into the market.

Many people have used a medical device (such as a defibrillator) in order to better their health, only to suffer injuries from that same device. Medical devices can include: Stents, Implants, Contraceptives devices, Defibrillators, Joints Replacements, and others.

If you’ve been harmed by a dangerous or defective medical device, you have the right to seek compensation for your injuries. Construction Site Accidents

Construction Sites can be dangerous

Many of the most dangerous accidents and injuries happen in the construction sites that proliferate the gulf coast. By the numbers alone truck accidents account for over 20% of fatal work injuries and at least 10% of nonfatal workplace injuries in United States; far more than any other field. Although much of the time safety precautions are in place, they may be inadequate or wholly ineffective at keeping some of the hardest workers in our country safe. Destin, Panama City, Panama City Beach, and Fort Walton Beach have all experienced rapid growth throughout the last few years. In fact, both Okaloosa and Walton County have grown tremendously throughout the past decade. Not surprisingly, increased growth leads to new job creation in the construction industry; and with that, an increase in construction site related accidents or injuries. Our firm has handled cases in Panama City, Freeport, Defuniak Springs, Crestview, and Destin. If you need an experienced Personal Injury Lawyer in the Florida Panhandle call the Bruner Firm today, at 1-800-BRUNER-1. Attorney Vince Bruner and his staff is ready to help.
