How to apply for Social Security Disability

Social Security and Supplemental Security Income Disability are the two biggest Federal programs providing assistance to those that have been determined to be disabled. Social Security Disability Insurance pays out to people that have been determined to be insured. Meaning, they must have worked long enough and paid social security taxes. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays benefits base on financial need. In order to qualify for either, you must meet the Social Security definition of disabled. In order to apply, you can fill out an application online (https://www.ssa.gov/applyfordisability/), at your local social security office, or by calling: 1-800-772-1213
